Tshelane Reid is a non-binary director, screenwriter and assistant director.

They are interested in creating unique and innovative storytelling experiences that delve into societal issues and offer critical commentary on contemporary issues.

In 2020, Tshelane was commissioned to write their first short audio play for the London Borough of Newham about gentrification and the displacement of global majority migrants for the London Borough of Newham. They then produced and directed a storytelling podcast in 2021 with the aim of spotlighting creatives from marginalised backgrounds. In 2022 they got a scholarship to attend the highly competitive National Television and Film School (NFTS). 

In recent years, they have worked on several independent films and high end TV projects including Netflix’s ‘The Witcher’ S4 and; Bridgerton’ S4, an upcoming FX Production/Disney+ show, and Channel 4’s ‘Queenie’.

Their experimental short film ‘Fluid Forms’ was just selected as part of the Straight 8 2024 competition and will screen as part of Straight 8's London Premiere at the BFI IMAX in late-May 2024. Shot entirely on one roll of super 8 film, ‘Fluid Forms’ is an experimental short film project exploring the human form from the perspective of Tiana Major9, a gender non-conforming Black British Caribbean recording artist. 

Combining 5+years of experience in the traditional and digital media sector with what they’ve learnt at the NFTS and beyond, Tshelane is pursuing a career writing and directing narrative films. Prior to their career in filmmaking, Tshelane started their professional career training as a consultant in the Art PR industry. Tshelane has recently become an Directors Assitant on Bridgerton.
